“Can I Get Arrested For Stealing from Myself?”
If you only steal from yourself, do not report it, and do not ask the police to press charges, then no one would know. (One might, then, ask exactly what you did that constitutes stealing.)
On the other hand, people have stolen their own automobile and reported the theft to their insurance company. (They might see this as a way of cutting their losses when the car turns out to be a lemon.) This could be prosecuted as insurance fraud.
A person who steals from himself and reports the crime to the police can be prosecuted for filing a false police report. If you accused someone else (who obviously is innocent) of doing the theft, that would likely break some laws.
Likewise, if you stole from a business you owned, wrote off the theft as a business loss, and did not report the stolen value as personal income, you could be arrested for tax fraud.
In summary, it is not the theft itself that would get you arrested but rather the false reporting that is likely to be involved which would get you prosecuted.
